2. Can the display work without backlight?
It depends on the display type that you are using. Transmissive displays can not work without backlight, you can see nothing on the screen without backlight. However, transflective displays can work without backlight, but it would be higher brightness if you add a backlight.

AG is to make the original glass reflective surface into a matte surface by chemical etching or spraying, and change the roughness of the glass surface, so that the surface has a matte effect.
