Microchip Technology SSD1963 LCD Controller Graphics (AC320214) is a daughter board that supports controller-based graphics for the Xplained Ultra and Curiosity Ultra Development Boards. The AC320214 daughter board transfers 16-bit parallel graphics data directly from parallel general-purpose Microchip MCU ports such as PIC32MZ EF and SAME70 to the SSD631 LCD display controller from Solomon Systems. The SSD1963 on the AC320214 daughter board is then connected to an external display panel via a 50-pin LCD interface (ribbon cable to the LCD).
SSD1963 LCD controller graphics card can be used in 8080 MCU mode (default) or 6800 MCU mode. With this daughter board, graphics can be added for applications where the MCU may not have enough memory or speed to control large RGB-based TFT LCD displays.
Therefore, for some RGB interface displays, if the customer can deal with the MCU interface, the SSD1963 board is needed to transfer the interface from RGB to MCU.
